I spiked a fever last night, not a high one, but didn't feel quite spunky enough to attend the Women's Circle meeting today. I have 2 teeth that need the fillings redone so I'm thinking that is what is causing the fever.

I am hearing: Talley as she puts the dishes up from the dishwasher. Jerry now has a personal aide who comes twice a week to help him with his daily living. She is a wonderful young lady..upbeat and jolly most of the time. Helping with whatever needs are found that day. We are very thankful to have her help.

I am thinking: about the fact that I have promised to help Dr. Rivera learn to paint. Wow.. I haven't painted in so long I'm sure I remember how! lol

I am wearing: a blue...almost worn completely out....housedress. I tell myself every week that "next payday" I'm going to buy some clothes. I haven't bought many things to wear in the last 7 years...it's about time. Everything I own is almost worn out..lol

As I look out the window: the sun is shining beautifully. What a day for the middle of February. It's supposed to be in the near 70°s today. My bushes think it's time to bloom out and I'm afraid I will lose all the little berries from my Japonica.

The current book is: The King of the West by Pedro Urvi. It's a young adult book in the fantasy genre. It's definitely not in the As the Bell Tolls class, but it's good enough for an easy read to fall asleep at night. :) This is the 7th in a long series by this author. I guess I'll read it until I get tired of it. :)

Creatively: I've been a busy girl. Finally. Picked up my knitting again. Have knitted soooo many scarves, wrist cuffs that I think I may turn into one. Got started naalbinding and then couldn't put that down. Then decided to make a plaque hanger to hang my coat by the door. Then my friend wanted one so made her one too.. lol But all make me happy.. so I don't mind the busyness.

Plans for the day: None... Still feel a little punk so am not going to plan a lot for today. Probably knit some..may do some hand sewing. But definitely nothing that requires a lot of moving around. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

As I wandered through Facebook today I came across this quote from J.R.R. Tolkein. I've heard parts of it before but never realized he is the one who wrote it! Little did I know! This still happens, but it's not anywhere near what I thought it would be. :)

I got up this morning: at 5:00 and turned on the coffee pot as I passed by to turn the alarm off to take the dogs out. It's quite the eye opener when one forgets to turn the alarm off and nonchalantly opens an outside door... ask me how I know!

I am hearing: the oxygen concentrator that is humming away beside the door. It's in here to keep the noise from permeating our bedroom at night.

I am thinking: that I have outlived my time. The world as we know it today is not the one I grew up in and I find that very sad for our children and grandchildren. The idea that homes need security systems when there was a time that no one even locked their doors is quite sad for me.

I am wearing: my pajamas.. it's still very early and I will dress later. Sweet DH is still sleeping and my clattering around in the shower and flapping closet doors might be a little much.. :)

As I look out the window: I do so love to see the birds fly back and forth to the birdhouse hanging from the eave. I can hear the baby birds chirping from a window in our bedroom Every year we have several bird families flying in and out and we can see them from at least 2 windows of the house.

The current book is: The Assassin's Target: CIA Assassin This is the last of a series of books written by Auston King. This series is reminiscent of the books by Vince Flynn and Daniel Silva...but he is not quite as good. With that said, I would still recommend his books.

Creatively: I have done a few things. Since we have a new great grandson I loaded the loom and put together a small blanket and made a receiving blanket for Casey. What a joy to do! I also got the old knitting needles out and have been keeping the hands busy in the evenings making wristlets and scarves. I find that when crocheting and having to count stitches, my macular degeneration causes me problems...especially if I am trying to use a dark colored yarn. So I have been sticking with the knitting needles.

Plans for the day: It's off the hospital this morning for the yearly mammogram. Never my favorite thing to do, but necessary. Then on to do a few errands before coming home. Seems I enjoy home more all the time.. :)

It's been extremely hot...but then it's August. Triple digit heat for days on end. If it's 80° at 5am and that feels soooo cool you want to sit on the porch with coffee even if you can't see your hand in front of your face... for me that's amazing. But September is on the horizon so we stay indoors and busy... or not busy... as the day unfolds.

As I sip my second cup of coffee and watch our fur babies sleeping away in their beds beside me, I'll say "Hope your day goes well." Sending hugs.. :)

Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-37681835871483244042023-08-07T06:59:00.002-05:002023-08-07T06:59:40.407-05:00Casey Jaymes Kemper

Meet the newest of the new... our Great Grandson Casey Jaymes Kemper born last night August 6, 2023 .. I have NO IDEA how I managed to mess up 4 rows without noticing the screw up!

I was knitting this last night while we were watching the making of Band Of Brothers and I guess I became more interested in the show than in what I was doing. What a joy that guy is.. lol He is expecting his first child and he said the baby will be born via section on August 9th. Triple digits around 107° every day and we've had poor workmen out working in it fixing the soffits and eaves of our house. I feel for anyone having to work outside in this heat. Every now and then I am a bit overwhelmed with the ocean of blessings that we have had bestowed upon us.

Enjoy your day, hug your loved ones...
Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-24912924009965847652023-07-30T10:56:00.002-05:002023-07-30T10:56:10.614-05:00Today in My Life .. The year is half over and all I've done is blink my eyes!

I got up this morning: at 5:30am which is a lot later than I have been getting up. Seems I wake up about 2:30 or 3am and can't go back to sleep so I just get up. So today was a real "sleep in" day..lol

I am wearing: a really, REALLY, wonky long dress that will cover my feet when I'm sitting in my chair...and that is truly necessary these days. My feet are always cold.

I look out the window: and am so pleased that the crepe myrtles are blooming, the daylilies have just finished blooming and some of the roses are going for round 2!! Such a pretty site to see looking out the kitchen window early in the morning.

I am hearing: the buzz of the printer next to me that drives me to distraction. So tempted to turn it off, but DH may decide to print something in a minute..

I am thinking: not a lot this morning. My brain seems to be stuck in neutral.

I am grateful for: all the memories that are held in every picture. And the fact that those can be passed on to future generations at will. Amazing.

From the kitchen: came a large bowl of Tapioca pudding last evening .. It's DH's favorite.. right up there with Custard Pie. And mine even if I pay for it with a higher blood sugar.

Current book: is the fifth book in a series called The Kingsfall Histories. This one is called "Endfall" and has all the mages, dragons, monsters a good science fiction book needs..lol It's written by David Estes and he is quite good.

Creatively: these are many things started and only a few finished. My procrastination button is stuck in the down position these days.. sigh

Around the house: this seems to be the day for extra things. Pills for the dogs, cutting DHs hair, doing all those little things and for some reason they seem to be a little overwhelming today. My brain is not keeping up..lol

From the learning desk: there isn't much happening. I have tried to "learn Spanish" with an online thing a couple of times and it's a great site, but I keep forgetting to go there.. sigh

Final thoughts: I talked to my sister on Friday .. seems like it's a long time between talks. That's not good. I told her we need to set up days.. like every Tuesday and Friday..lol Maybe we wouldn't get so busy we forget!

Here's a favorite thing:

This tea infuser was a gift from son and daughter in law many years ago. And I have to do this since my Lemon Balm is very unhappy with the direct sunlight.. or is not happy sharing her home with the Rosemary.. not sure which. But she does have to be watered every day and still shows signs of stress..hmm What to do..

As a result of the 100+ degree weather almost every day this past week, knitting anything larger than a scarf is an absolute no-no. Since I've done very little knitting in the past few years it was a few days before my fingers remembered what they should be doing..

I started knitting a pair of Wrist Cuffs to wear with my coat (that I had to make last year since I lost my favorite one...ughh). I had some black and white yarn left over from another project so I used it. The cuffs turned out beautifully so I used some wooden buttons that I bought for use with a crazy quilt and they were good too.. serendipitous!

Since I still had yarn left over (and still do!), I started a matching scarf. Finished it yesterday. I have to say that my favorite scarf pattern is one that was first put online by The Yarn Harlot , Stepanie Pearl-McPhee many years ago. It's a One Row Pattern and while being very pretty is also reversible and very soft. The pattern is found on her blog, free, HERE.

Well, it's now 6:00am and my coffee cup is empty. I think I will remedy that and refill it, move to my chair in the den and settle in. It's going to be a bit of a busy day...workmen here working outside yesterday, today and probably tomorrow. Makes for interesting times.. :)

Have a good day today...stay cool and enjoy whatever your hands find to do..
Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-81859680186698647282023-07-25T10:11:00.000-05:002023-07-25T10:11:06.151-05:00Tea and Toast

It's a beautiful morning. Cool 80° now, but weather says it feels like 77°. It was cooler this morning and I made it out in time to pick the Lemon Balm and Apple Mint. The Lemon Balm needs to be moved...I think the sun is burning it.. :( I got it in and washed it a couple of times.. It's on the counter drying now. Had Lemon Balm tea yesterday and am having Mint tea this morning.

I don't know what's gotten into me, but I've been on a baking spree for a couple of days. I made Peasant Bread using the recipe from Alexandra's Kitchen. Go have a look .. she has many wonderful recipes.

I've used this recipe many times and the only thing I change is .. I add 1 tbsp. gluten for each cup of flour and 1 tbsp. dough conditioner for the entire recipe. This makes it just like Wonder Bread..lol.. anyone remember that bread??!!

The recipe itself is HERE..

In the process of spending all that energy, I also made a Custard Pie. I can't take credit for just WANTING to make that pie.. The fact is, I'd had that pie crust in the fridge until it was almost out of date.. use it or lose.. ya know.. And my sweet husband likes Custard so it was a win-win ..

I used a different recipe than I usually do. It's called Grandma's Egg Custard Pie. I made it exactly like the recipe .. HERE .. but it calls for an egg white to coat the crust before you bake the pie. The egg white is supposed to keep the crust from becoming soggy... Well, I didn't want to have an egg yolk sitting around doing nothing, so I skipped that part and just stuck the crust in the hot oven for about 7 or 8 minutes to harden it a bit and voila'.. no soggy crust.

It actually turned out very well. My hon says it's the "best pie I've ever had"! You don't suppose he was buttering me up, do ya?? :)

I'm a little on the tired side today. I don't expect to get much done today except maybe knit on my scarf.. I'll show that in another post.. :)

Have a good day.. rest if you need to..Hugs..

Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-78083491822277730282023-07-24T10:50:00.000-05:002023-07-24T10:50:05.052-05:00Finding a Few Old Things

Good morning. I'm sitting here wishing it was cool enough to go out and cut Lemon Balm and Apple Mint to dry and keep for tea... but alas it's already nearing 90° out there and the sun is high. It has been a beautiful, wonderful spring with rain several days a week until now. The grass is green and the magnolia trees are full with beautiful green leaves. The Crepe Myrtles are blossoming and covered with rose pink flowers.

I was looking for something "lost" the other day in my sewing boxes and came across this little Biscornu that I made 15 years ago. It has been an up and down kind of year as far as our health is concerned and as for right now... we are doing great. It's Easter Sunday today and the day is warm and sunny, the kind of day everyone wishes for when laying plans for Easter egg hunts and spending time with family.

And speaking of family.. One of my cousins has posted on facebook a terrific way to beat the heat, pressure and stress of summertime meals... and I asked her if I could plagiarize it..lol And she said yes..
<div style="background-color: white; All of these meals go into gallon sized ziplock bags that I label and get frozen flat in our chest freezer. The night before I pull one out and put it in the refrigerator to thaw. Each one cooks in the crockpot so it’s very simple and doesn’t heat up the house or require me being in the kitchen when I don’t have time. The initial investment for all the groceries is quite a bit but if I calculate it out per meal this is very reasonable for a large family. The amount I prep usually lasts us 6-7 weeks and dinner leftovers get used for lunches or the next night’s dinner. I’ve perfected a list that our family really likes and are cost effective with not too many ingredients. I simply do what works for our large family/budget. I allow these to thaw overnight in the fridge before putting in the crockpot and it’s perfectly safe to cook veggies and meat combined in the crockpot together as long as they reach the appropriate cooking temp. I’ve never had an issue with these and I’ve been doing freezer meals many years. Each bag serves approximately 4-6 depending. I do not pre-cook any of the meat or ingredients. Press all the air from the bags before sealing to help avoid freezer burn. Hope this answers some of the questions!*

Follow Easy Cooking Ideas for more delicious recipes!

I am definitely going to try some of these. We are not pressured by youngsters and their sports all summer, but we do try to beat the heat by using the crockpot and cooking on the porch as much as possible. I usually fill the crockpot and plug it in on the back porch.. check it occasionally and voila'.. supper... no mess, no fuss.

I hope your Easter Sunday is filled with hope, love and lots of family hugs. Of course..lol It seems 2 of my sons had ridden their bikes to Sturgess to the bike rally .. and Chuck was stopping here on his way home! He got to spend the night and had to go home the next day (yesterday), but was sooo good to see him and to spend time with him. I would post his photo, but he doesn't like to have his pic posted, so will not.

Sometimes I wonder how I got so terribly attached to our 2 little dogs...and then I see something like this picture. lol Katie was only a few months old 10 years ago when this picture was taken. You can hardly tell her tiny little self apart from the neck pillow I always kept on my chair! And Sam just had to sit on my lap and nose around to whatever he could find. They have become our second set of "children" as we grow older and our kids have all grown up. We love 'em..

Temps here in Oklahoma have finally fallen below 100 degrees a couple of days ago... truly feels like a cold front came through when it hit only 98°! Hopefully the heat dome that was sitting over us has either broken or moved on. None of my flowers did very well this year. The only thing that was good were the onions that I put out... they were perfect! Just not enough of them.

Covid numbers are back up in our county so people are staying in again. Not too happy about that. Time for me to go back to sewing, knitting and spinning... maybe a little painting.

Hope your days have been good ones. Finally I found a way that works! Ask me if I'm delighted..lol I put the dough together last night at bedtime and let it rise all night, then punched it down this morning and let it rest another 45 minutes in the pans. Baked it at 450° until it browned and voila' .. it worked!

I worked and worked with this a couple of years ago when there was NO bread on the shelves...yeast was almost impossible to find (had son mail me some from Michigan)... and even flour was not to be found on Amazon. Thanks to feastingathome.com I finally got a full idea of how it's done. Misery is not even the best word and I can't think of one bad enough. Dangerous is better. Our grandson Dustin is working for a roofer and had heat stroke yesterday. This temperature gauge is on our back porch, in the shade, and this temp shown was yesterday about 5pm. The cotton crop that the poor dry land farmers have is almost negligible. Tiny, short plants with few blooms that we could see from the road as we drove by...and it's just now August. This will definitely be "The Long Hot Summer" ....

I found another Michael Lee doll on Amazon not long ago. They usually had a cow, chickens and occasionally pigs. As a result, there was always milk, eggs, butter, buttermilk. Grandma kept several crocks on her cabinet that she would pour the fresh milk into and let the cream settle to the top. When her knives would get dull, she would "whet" them across the edge of those crocks to sharpen them.
One day I got so frustrated with my paring knife I almost threw it away. Then I saw one cup upside down on the cabinet .. voila'.. What could it hurt to try??? So I did.. and it worked. Now this is what I do when I have a dull paring knife. May not be chef sharp, but it does what I need done. :)

Daughter and son in law are here and we went to the Backdoor Steakhouse in Blair, OK for supper last night. Had a wonderful time. Going to Russell, OK today and visit some Schuster home places. Totally glad we now have cars... a little hot for the old horse and buggy days.. lol

Have a good day today and enjoy the 4th of July holiday.
Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-90243378062012374162022-07-02T09:38:00.001-05:002022-07-02T09:40:02.191-05:00Reading, Reading, Reading
Seems I've been on a real reading kick for the last couple of months. Allen Chappell with his Navajo Nation Mystery Series. I've read the first six and am on the 7th now.. I've thoroughly enjoyed this series. It's not the highest class reading.. very easy to read and smooth sailing.. but I'm really enjoying his knowledge of the Navajo people and some of their ideas on life.

Vaughn Entwistle is another series author I've read this go round. Well, it's been 24 days without a cigarette. I have to say that I do NOT miss the hacking cough, the smell, the ashes mess, the interruption to run outside and smoke, finding the smoking section of a restaurant. I have missed the time spent on the porch with DH in the mornings and throughout the day. Today will his first day using the patch and quitting. This is a very good thing.

It's actually thundering outside as I post this. What a great sound! We are supposed to get an inch of rain today and that would be wonderful.

I had my second visit with the cardiologist. Tests were done... etc.. etc.. An appointment has been made with another cardiologist to have a cardiac cath done on Tuesday.

In the meantime, I have been crocheting a bit. Small projects that can be finished quickly.
Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-63496221566981418852022-06-23T08:21:00.000-05:002022-06-30T01:49:03.938-05:00108° .... When DH came in yesterday from coffee with the guys, he said the bank temperature sign said 108°. I personally wouldn't know since the closest to outdoors I went was to take a few things to my workroom quickly and shut the door behind me as I left. :O)
The silk/merino mix that I bought in Tucson at Grandma's Spinning Wheel has been spun into a 14 wpi 2 ply yarn. When I have plied what is on this spindle I am hoping to have enough for a light, lacy scarf. I love this stuff... The silk gives it a wonderful sheen and the softness just makes me want to walk around with it glued to my cheek...lol

(Probably not).. but will make the (littlest) effort anyway. lol Have a wonderful day.. :)

Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-19096468386761964422022-02-04T08:44:00.016-06:002022-02-04T08:58:13.758-06:00Doing a Bit of Cooking

Thursday Feb. 3, 2022... Cold, cold, cold. There is now 5 1/2 inches of snow on the ground with ice crunching underneath the feet as we try to take the dogs out. It's a pretty useless effort since neither one of our little poodles likes the cold at all. So we are sitting in our chairs for the most part watching the fireplace and being totally glad to have it.

Yesterday I made a large "soup".. I'm not sure exactly what to call it.. lol Hamburger stew and to this one I added Ranch Style Beans... Lovely! Tastes a bit like taco soup, but much more subtle. Yum ..

Jerry decided he wanted a pumpkin pie so I found a recipe for a butter pie crust.. my first. Several years ago I found a "tip" on the internet about how to sharpen knives if you don't have a sharpener. The original idea was to run the edge of your knife around the top of a stoneware crock while turning it over and over. I've seen my grandmother do this many times over the years. Since I don't have a crock sitting on my counter, I turned over one of my coffee mugs... worked perfectly. I do this often now.

Well, the snow is still with us. The sun is out today but the temp is barely supposed to reach freezing.. it's 11 degrees right now. Probably not much melting happening today, but maybe a little. Hoping for enough to allow the doggies a place to go do their business!

Have a great day today. Drink lots of hot whatever you drink... I would say hug all your family and friends, but with Covid everywhere that's maybe not such a good idea.. but virtual hugs are ok...

Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-79354803783532375702022-01-24T08:14:00.005-06:002022-01-24T08:15:51.987-06:00My Diary: January 24, 2022

I woke up this morning: and stumbled to the bathroom with my eyes closed. Up at 4:30am this morning. Don't know what's up with early morning rising, but seems to be a new pattern for me. I have to say that I do enjoy the quiet time.

Found out yesterday that Covid Omicron is so prevalent here that most in our doctor's office are out with it. Daughter who is working for one of the drs. in that clinic says we should stay home... go nowhere. So once again there will be no beauty shop or nail appointments for a while. This is the second year for the Covid threat and have been out to eat once in those 2 years,. Not to say we don't order out and use the pick up window... but sometimes it's just nice to sit down in a restaurant and have dinner and conversation with someone you love. I'm sure that most health professionals are aware of the mental health issues with this pandemic, but sometimes I wonder how much we are actually saving (as far as health is concerned) by the stay-at-home idea since the increase in depression is so markedly on the rise. We have not seen our grandchildren for almost 2 years. Not a good thing.

Several years ago I started this egg. The idea was to see if I could do a Russian style icon. It didn't turn out too badly, but then I was stymied on how to finish the back side of the egg. Needless to say... I am still stymied. It occurs to me that a lot of Russian art contains at least some geometrics, so I'm thinking I may get out the acrylics and do a geometric of some kind on the back. Any ideas would be welcome.. :)

We're in for a bit of relief from the horrible cold...welcome relief. Up in the 40s and 50s and then on Sunday and Monday it should be almost like spring with temps in the high 60s and even 70s. That's always welcome, but the cold that comes after always seems even colder.. sigh

When we take our dogs to be groomed, they always come home with a little triangle of cloth around their necks as a scarf. Since our dogs are so "graceful", we always take them off to prevent them from tugging and pulling on them. This time we cut the collar off Katie with the scarf! We immediately ordered another one that comes with her name on it and other information, but it would take 3 weeks to get it, so enter the trust sewing machine... I really prefer this little collar for her than the new one she has now. It is much softer and just as strong. I'm sure it's more comfortable for her, but her new one has her name on it. Anyway, I'll put up a tutorial to make a collar for your dog on Fabric Follies Too... very easy to do.

Must get around. Coffee cup empty and it's 6:10am. Have plans for the day, just not sure what they are yet..lol Have a wonderful day... 😊

Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com1Altus, OK, USA34.637765 -99.33404425.5597208237341995 -134.4902942 63.715809176265807 -64.1777942tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-73219828866144143812022-01-12T09:18:00.002-06:002022-01-12T09:29:36.836-06:00My Diary... It was not quite 5:30am but I got up anyway. Sweet Katie was telling me it was time to rise and shine...so I rose, but definitely did not shine.. 😉

I look out my window: and I can see the sun beginning to shine. The thermometer outside says not quite 30° and it's definitely feeling it. The trees are bare and the earth is definitely in sleeping, resting mode. The winters have been cold and not my favorite part of the seasons until I realized one day that it is not a dead season, but a resting season needed for the revitalization of life. Time to slow down a bit and revitalize myself.

I am hearing: the whirring of my printer. It's enough to make me want to turn the thing off. But the ringing in my ears helps to cover it..lol

I am thinking: that I can finally see patterns in my life... and as I do all those things one hears as child are true. Be careful who you spend time with.. family is all important...early to bed, early to rise...and on and on.. I have heard and smiled at all my life. Today, they don't seem so rhetorical at all.

I am thankful for: first and foremost..my sweet, caring, thoughtful husband who helps me through good times and bad, takes care of me even when he doesn't feel well himself. My children..there is not a word that comes close to covering how thankful I am for my children. Coffee.. lol.. what can I say about coffee..sigh

I am wearing: My gown (black with tiny roses around the neckline) and my robe (horrible faded black t-shirt material with huge pink flowers on it.. ughhh). But.. it's very comfortable. Flows without any binding anywhere and I may just wear it all day.

I am hoping: that my children are well. That Covid will soon pass into that thing that happens during flu season instead of all year long. 2 years stuck inside the house is enough already.

From the kitchen: doesn't come very much these days. But I did put a corned beef in the crock pot a day or so ago. LOVE THAT! Still having corned beef sandwiches. Made a couple of batches of chocolate covered peanuts and some peanut butter cookies. Yum...

Around the house: It seems the older we get the more often we don't feel well, so the house could use a good deep cleaning and de-cluttering. You would think that being stuck inside during the Covid mess some of this would get done...but no.. hmmm

I am reading: For the 5th or 6th time.. Magician Apprentice.. by Raymond E. Feist. This is a series of fantasy books I read for the first time many years ago and have re-read many times since.

I am learning: seems to be not much lately. I'm going to have to re-learn how to spin with a spindle since for the last several years I have used only my spinning wheel. sigh...

I am creating: not sure I would call it creating.. but.. anyway I managed somehow to lose my coat! Now.. how does a person lose a coat? ughhh ... so I had to make me another one. It's not as warm as the one I lost, but it works in a pinch ..lol I will make another one with some closer woven fabric, but I do like the way this one drapes.

This is the coat and the pattern that I use. I have had the pattern for years and am considering making it with very light material as a matching cover for just jeans and a shirt. Anyway... the number of things I consider in just one day would fill a month's worth of time if I made them all. 😏😏😏

Now.. on to other things.

One of my favorite things: is following my children, grandchildren and friends on facebook. Sometimes I think I should just get off it, but somehow that lasts about 1 day. I love the photos.. what the kids are doing, what the grands are doing.. just LOVE it..

A few plans for the rest of the week: not many. To the beauty shop today but as far as plans, that's it. Whatever gets done will get done when I decide. Haven't felt too well for the last few days, so will see what happens later on..

Remember to smile at stranger, hug your friends and have a wonderful day.

Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-44652957604821922742022-01-08T10:28:00.001-06:002022-01-08T10:41:35.783-06:00A New Year
Well, the New Year has started like the old year ended... with me erasing my entire blog post thinking I had already posted it on my laptop... but no... didn't happen.

Anyway... I learned a long time ago that New Years resolution thing was not a happening thing around here... usually lasted about a week .. or at the most, two. But there is one thing that I hope I will continue into this year. I found a blog a few years ago on another blog that I was following and it was called (and still is) The Simple Woman . I found it very calming and decided that while I did not want to join the group that she has, I did want to try something similar. I did for quite a while and found that my day started much more smoothly as I found so many things to be thankful for and it caused me to pay attention to my life today and not what was yesterday or tomorrow. I will try to do something similar here.

It has been so very cold here for the past week or two. We have enjoyed the fireplace immensely.

Sam (apricot) and Katie (black) enjoy it as much or more than we do.. lol The last 3 years have not been easy for us and these two lovelies have made all the difference for us. Watching them play, running around chasing a ball or just hugging and loving on us has absolutely made the days pass easier.

The groomer we take them to always puts a little triangular bandana on them and when we get home we have to take them off or Sam will choke himself tugging on it.. So Hubs was cutting Katie's off and also cut off her collar! So I am now working on a collar for her until her new one comes in. Have it about 1/2 done and trying to figure out how all the hardware goes back on. We'll see if I'm smart enough to get it done. :)

Hugs to all. Stay warm and enjoy this day.
Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15396575.post-71884076804942624942020-08-02T07:39:00.001-05:002020-08-02T07:39:55.987-05:00Around the World..... Dad used to say "That guy would go around the world to get across the street!" Well, that's just about what it took for me to be able to put this photo up... lol But here it is, the photo of the quilt fabric I'm trying to work with. I love the lemons and am trying to find a way to use bigger pieces to keep from losing them in the fray.

Linda S.http://www.blogger.com/profile/14947528872032423909noreply@blogger.com0
