A Season of Contrasts

I received an email yesterday from our son in Michigan. He has received his hat, it fits (Yayyy!), and he says it is just in time for the latest snow fall...

When he sent me these photos..a while back.. he said they had already had 52" of snow... amazing... These photos are just of the latest blowing snow drifts at the time. I can't imagine.. 52"!! However, it is pretty. I don't really mind snow.. it's the inevitable ice and slippery driving that comes with the "almost" melting that I don't like. And the slick snow pack. And invariably having to go out to some place that parks on the side of a hill! That's a hoot..

And this is what I did yesterday. After I came home from the Red River Historical Museum Craft Saturday (more about that on Fabric Follies Two )... I took pictures of the daffodils blooming along the back fence. This morning as I sit here blogging, I am watching the first woodpecker of the season cleaning DH's favorite tree and the first 3 robins of the season hunting for worms on the ground. I think Spring has Sprung!

It never ceases to amaze me the differences within this nation of ours. Living up north... even just as far north as northern Arkansas... it was different to have all 4 seasons. It seemed to take forever to heat up to comfortable levels... but at least there were all 4 seasons...lol

Fair Isle and Water Heaters

Well, I am beginning to think I will survive..lol It seems to take a little longer to get over things than it used to... wonder why that is...lol

That luscious Merino Lamb that I have been spinning has seriously been calling my name. So has the idea of Fair Isle knitting. So ... since I had all three of these colors spun up... I decided to give it a try.

This is going to be a toboggan cap when it is finished. Go here... Knitting Nonni .. and you will see where the inspiration comes from. I keep telling myself that someday I will be able to do that...lol

Yesterday was quite eventful... in a quiet kind of way. Our finances went out the window..lol Can you guess why?

It's hard to see in this picture, but there is water in the pan... the hot water heater is leaking. So ... did you know that for only $700+ you can replace yours too?!!! And this is only one of them. Thank goodness the one in the house is still going.

Naalbinding a Red Cap

This is another of those pieces that I have been working on over the last few weeks. It seems to have gotten set aside while I worked on trying to learn to knit socks...sigh I will finish it..lol

This one is made with the handspun Corriedale from the second dye batch and also uses the first needle I made..the oak one. This needle continues to be my favorite even though I have made several other ones. The stitch used in this one is the Korgen stitch (classified as UOO/UUOO) This is a very easy stitch to do and makes the cap quite warm.

It has been lovely for last couple of days. Actually got into the hot tub yesterday afternoon and it looks like we will be able to again this afternoon. The sun is shining brightly today and as far as I'm concerned we can't have enough of days like this ...
