Newsletter, Echocardiogram, Silk/Bamboo

There have been many ups and downs with the newsletter during the last year. We handed it over to someone else to do and for one reason or another, it did not get done.... so we are once again doing it. It will be in the mail this afternoon. This is a good thing...really wanted everyone to have theirs before Christmas. Our mailing list is now around 550, but with none sent out in a year, we are expecting quite a few to be returned as undeliverable as people move and don't send in new addresses.

Went for echocardiogram yesterday. It took quite a while, but not nearly as long as I was expecting it to take...lol (Didn't have to see the doctor!) My cardiologist has one of those doctor's offices where you make sure you have enough knitting/crocheting/nalbinding supplies with you to last for several hours.... you will need them. My DH has finally learned to take his own book with him...after he had read all of the magazines in the place at least twice in one visit. Go again next week for chemical stress test.

Made a trip to Durant, OK for some supplies and while there stopped at Ozark Mills. I got some silk roving and some bamboo roving. It's amazing the difference between spinning the silk/bamboo and spinning wool. The white in the pic to the left is the silk. The beautiful fuchsia/purple colorway below is the bamboo.

It's Been a While...

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted. No excuses, but it's been a little busy.

First... for the family who follow my blog... Uncle Richard died last Thursday evening. The funeral will be in Tupelo on Monday. Aunt Thelma seems to be doing ok, but the kids are taking it very hard. The last time we saw them, Richard was so proud of their 50th wedding anniversary that he couldn't seem to stop talking about it..

The newsletter is finally finished.. we got the last info for it on Thursday and put that in, then took it to the printer to find out how much the postage and printing costs would be... which brings up a not so funny thing happened on the way to the printer...

Our new car is not so new anymore... I was driving and was broadsided by a pickup. I will forever more sing the praises of steel reinforcement on the sides of vehicles and side airbags. I walked away with only minor bruises and no glass cuts. Even the seatbelt bruise was minor. The air bags shielded me from both the impact and the glass. DH, however, was injured by a small bead of glass that was probably in my hair...(smiles) He was waiting for me at the print shop and the accident happened only 1 block away from there (I was on my way back with the mailing list on disk). When they saw the fire emergency vehicle go by and I was late getting back, they went up to see and sure enough it was me. Bless his heart, it was a panicked moment for him and a stressful evening in the ER. But all is fine now... just some major soreness and stiffness.

Newsletters and Blossoms

It's that time again. The LRRP Ranger Newsletter is in the beginnings of being started...with a bang. I lost my master and was in a panic that I would not be able to start without coming up with the layout all over again... Thankfully I had saved the pack n go file from the last trip to the printer, so I was saved... Yesterday I got 5 of 16 pages done, so it shouldn't take too long this time.

We had a couple of showers yesterday morning, so between times when the sun broke out, I took my camera into the side meadow and back yard to get pics of the redbud, pear and another that I'm not sure of. This pic is the one I'm not sure of. It is blossoming on a smallish, shrublike plant that reminds me of a newly planted peach tree... kinda spindly. But lovely... I almost looks like one of the apricots off the our tree may have sprouted and started a new one... Wouldn't that be lovely!
